This is asurgery designed to increase the size of the breast. This is achieved by placing an implant (i beneath the breast gland and above the muscle (subglandular) or under the major pectoral muscle (submuscular).

Common indications for this surgery are:

• Very small chest
• Loss of breast volume after pregnancy
• Difference in size between the two breasts
• Reduction of the breast after weight loss
• As also can be a solution in some cases of breat reconstruction after mastectomy.

The surgery is under general anesthesia and 1 day stay in hospital.

The silicone implant can be placed through an incision at the inframammary fold, at the maxillary area or around areola.Since the gland remains intact, mosto frequently problems with breastfeeding do not exist.

After incision, the surgeon prepares the case where the implantwill be placed. This pocket could be be either under the gland (subglandular) or under the muscle(submuscular) or even subfacial.A number or parameters are need to be consider for dicisions like that. The surgery usually lasts 1-2 hours.

The patient wears for the post-operative time a special bra for about 1 month.
