The aging of the face is unavoidable. With the passage of time, skin begins to relax and fine wrinkles bacame deeper. The heredity, personal habits, the gravity and sun exposure contribute to the relaxation of the face. The facelift aims to correct this relaxation.
The incision in a standard facelift starts from area of the temporal hair extends in front and behind the ear and ends in the area of the occipital hair. Then off the skin the underlying tissues are repositioned to orrect the relaxation. Followed by removal of excess skin and closure of surgical wounds.
The surgery usually lasts 4 hours and is performed under general anesthesia. The facelift can often be combined with other interventions of correction, such as vlefaroplastiki, the recovery of the neck (necklift), the eyebrows lift (browlift) and laser resurfacing.
Post-operative the patient wears a specific garment continuously for 1 week. The stitches are removed gradually from the 5th to the 14th day. Usually there is a post-operative swelling and bruises in the face and neck which gradually subside within 2 to 4 weeks.
The patient may return to the everyday / activities after 7-14 days. The aesthetic effectiveness is becoming apparent after the fall of swelling, usually 1 month after that, while the final result after 6 months to 1 year.
